How We Help

We provide programs and services to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

At Whatley Health Services locations, patients receive a variety of services in a welcoming environment where we provide the highest standard of health care. Services offered are comprehensive and designed to meet the needs of individual patients, who may be seen by appointment or walk-in.

We accept all major health insurance while also offering a sliding fee discount for those who qualify.

Our continuum of care involves networking, consultation, surveillance, data management, and research. A unique facet of our center involves physician follow-through with a patient when hospitalization is required.

We provide services at 10 sites in our 9 county service area, which are Tuscaloosa, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Pickens, Sumter, Walker, Bibb, and Fayette.

Sliding Fee Discount

Help is here with the Sliding Fee Discount Program
What if I don’t have insurance?

The nominal fees for uninsured clients are $25 Medical, $30 Specialist and $45 Dental. This amount is due and payable at each clinic visit. The remaining balance is determined by whether or not the client qualifies for a sliding fee scale discount. This discount is based on verification of an individual’s income and household size. Community Health Centers are not free clinics and are actually required to charge a nominal fee when services are not covered by an insurance plan and to collect monies due for services rendered to its clients.

How much of a discount should I expect?

Patients can receive up to a 100% sliding fee scale discount on services if they are eligible for that level of discount. An individual in this pay category would only be responsible for the nominal fee.

What is verification of income?

The following forms of income verification are accepted:

  • Recent paycheck stub or statement from employer
  • Public Assistance
  • Child Support
  • Copy of bank statement verifying direct deposit or printout of benefits from the Social Security Administration
  • Unemployment Compensation
  • Alimony
  • Most Recent Years Income Tax Return
  • Financial Aid/Pell Grant Information if you are a student
  • Verification from another social service agency such as DHR, Salvation Army, etc.
